Beauden John Barrett (born 27 May 1991) is a New Zealand rugby union player who plays as a First five-eighth or Fullback for the Blues and hurricanes in Super Rugby and Taranaki in the Bunnings NPC.
Barrett won the World Rugby Player of the Year awards in 2016 and 2017, was also a nominee for the award in 2018, and is only the second player to win the award in consecutive years, after former teammate Richie McCaw. He also won the overall Sportsperson of the Year Award in the Taranaki Sports Awards in 2013, 2016 and 2019.
Barrett played at under-20 and Sevens levels for New Zealand before being called into the All Blacks squad in May 2012, and made his international debut as a replacement in the final test against Ireland in Hamilton, when he kicked nine points, on 23 June 2012. He debuted for Taranaki in 2010, and debuted in Super Rugby with the Hurricanes in 2011.
Barrett holds the world record for consecutive wins since his first test (19 wins from 19 tests).

The experimental law that allowed cameras into New York State's courtrooms -- and dramatic footage of criminal trials into millions of living rooms -- expires this week, with the law's future in dispute. The dispute centers on a provision in a State Senate bill that would extend the law but would not allow news organizations to videotape or photograph some witnesses during testimony unless the witnesses agreed. Many news organizations say that would sharply curtail their ability to cover a trial. The Assembly version of the bill, reflecting current law, would not set such a limit.

Iraq has appointed its first full-time oil minister since October, the Iraqi News Agency reported today. The new minister, Usama Abdel-Razzaq, was a minister of state for oil in the Government formed by Prime Minister Saadoun Hammadi in March.

Mets Manager Bud Harrelson today calmly and confidently addressed the issue of his job security and defended his laissez-faire handling of the team's emotionally tumultuous and otherwise embarrassing weekend at Shea Stadium. Transportation Secretary Samuel K. Skinner said today that he was "not overly optimistic" that Pan American World Airways would survive and that he hoped it would be taken over by another airline. In an interview on the NBC News program "Meet the Press," Mr. Skinner said he was more optimistic about Trans World Airlines. But he added that the loss of either airline would be unlikely to have a significant effect on the industry.
