POLAROID INTRODUCES TWO DISPOSABLE CAMERAS

The Polaroid Corporation entered the disposable-camera market yesterday with two 35-millimeter models, one with flash and one without. The company joins the Eastman Kodak Company, the Konica Corporation and the Fuji Photo Film Company in offering disposable cameras, which represent the fastest-growing segment of the United States consumer film market. The plastic-bodied cameras, packaged in cardboard, are returned intact for developing.

CUMMINS AND TELCO PLAN VENTURE IN INDIA

FORD TO OPEN TECHNICAL CENTER NEAR TOKYO

The Ford Motor Company plans to open a $50 million technical center near Tokyo by mid-1995 to bolster its efforts to sell more American-made parts to the Japanese auto industry. Construction of the Ford Technology Development Center will start next year; the center will employ about 80 people.

CHRYSLER STARTS PROGRAM FOR SMALL STOCK ACCOUNTS

The Chrysler Corporation has started a one-month program to reduce the number of stockholders with fewer than 100 of its shares by allowing investors to either sell or increase their holdings to exactly 100 shares at a reduced cost. Chrysler now has 129,300 shareholders with fewer than 100 shares, a company spokeswoman, Karen Stewart, said. The offer waives the brokerage commission but charges a processing fee of 50 cents for each share bought or sold.

RESOLUTION TRUST SELLS HOMEFED LOANS FOR $490 MILLION

The Resolution Trust Corporation, the savings-and-loan cleanup agency, has sold real estate loans from the HomeFed Bank of San Diego with a book value of $735 million to an investor group for about $490 million. Most of the loans were made by HomeFed, a $12.4 billion-asset savings bank that failed in July 1992, to finance apartment buildings.

TSX STOCK SURGES ON UNIT'S $40 MILLION ORDER

The stock of the TSX Corporation stock surged 33 percent yesterday on heavy volume after its Texscan unit, a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, announced a $40 million order from Tele-Communications Inc. TSX shares rose $1.125 each, to $4.50, on the American Stock Exchange.

MICHIGAN INSURER SEEKS $17 MILLION FROM ARBOR DRUGS

Arbor Drugs Inc., an operator of 138 drugstores in Michigan, said yesterday that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan was seeking more than $17 million from Arbor to settle claims that it overcharged the insurer. Arbor also said the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan was investigating whether Arbor had violated any laws in its dealings with Blue Cross and Blue Shield. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor said she could not provide details. The company said it did nothing that should result in criminal charges.
