New Radio Network Set for Fox News

Fox News said yesterday that it would join Westwood One Inc. to create a new radio network as its parent, the News Corporation, prepares to take its entertainment holdings public. Fox News Channel, a unit of the News Corporation's cable networks, will supply news, sports and entertainment updates to the network, which will start broadcasting at the end of the year and will be called Fox News.

NABISCO MARGARINE BRANDS COST CONAGRA $400 MILLION

Conagra Inc. paid $400 million to buy several brands of margarine from the Nabisco Holdings Corporation, according to a regulatory filing. The price was not disclosed when the sale was announced in July. Conagra bought Fleischmann's, Parkay, Blue Bonnet, Touch of Butter, Chiffon and Move Over Butter margarines as well as Egg Beaters egg substitutes. The purchase made Conagra, based in Omaha, one of the largest makers of table spreads in the United States.

Staples Inc. agreed yesterday to buy the office-products assets of the Ivan Allen Company for an undisclosed price. Staples, which is based in Westborough, Mass., and is the second-largest office-supply superstore chain in the United States, is expanding its operations in the Southeast and building its catalogue business. It said it would buy the closely held Ivan Allen's supplies assets in Atlanta and 14 divisional sales offices in the South. Ivan Allen will continue to operate its office-furniture business.
